ANTH818: Anthropology of Aid, Human Rights and Intervention
This unit examines issues in crisis management and human rights that have been regarded as "problems" requiring intervention by developed countries' governments, the United Nations and other international organisations. The moral and political pronouncements of interventionist organisations and national elites are considered in terms of their cultural assumptions and their selection of problems and permissible means of addressing them.
