ANTH826: Social Movements, Knowledge and Development
This unit introduces the use of anthropology in understanding the contested nature of knowledge in the project of development and modernisation. Anthropological studies of shamans, midwives and diviners will be used to question the meaning of knowledge as defined by modernising intellectuals.
