GSE843: Environmental Decision Making

Block teaching sessions: 7 August, 18 September; Group A: 19 August, 2 September, 7 October; Group B: 22 August, 5 September, 10 October.

The objective of this unit is to enable students to understand how decisions are made about environmental issues and particularly to assess the relative significance of: politics; values held by stakeholders; scientific and technical information; procedural requirements established by law and administration; and market forces. Theories and practices of decision making will be examined. Also qualitative and quantitative tools used to support environmental decision making will be covered.
