ITEC820: Software Development Tools for Games and Interface Design

Realistic representation of physical spaces in two dimensions has been a driving force behind computer technology development thanks to the explosive growth of the gaming industry. This unit covers the conceptual foundations underpinning the development of 3D environments for games, remote multi-user communications and object modelling. Frameworks upon which modern virtual reality graphical user interfaces are built are analysed in some detail. Contemporary approaches to designing and creating such environments are addressed, at both a principled and practical level.
