LAW855: Environmental Law and Sustainable Development

This unit provides an introduction to environmental policy, ethics, philosophy and the legal system with a focus on the relationship between the human and the nonhuman environment and the evolution of modern approaches to sustainable development. Federal environment protection is discussed (in particular, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999). New South Wales environmental legislation will also be considered, with an emphasis on integrated natural resource management using water as an example.
