This first unit in the JD program introduces topics in law and legal theory and concepts, including the concept of the state, representative government, sources of Australian law, the place of Aboriginal peoples, and the institutions of government. Students will be introduced to legal scholarship skills of legal research, reading cases and statutory interpretation.
