The unit surveys the nature and origins of National Socialism, beginning with its roots in the Weimar Republic; the Nazi achievement of power, rearmament and economic recovery; coercion and consent in the Third Reich; the racial state and its consequences for Jews, women and the "socially deviant"; and the place of the Third Reich in modern German history.
