PSY919: Developmental Psychopathology
This unit provides an overview of theoretical approaches to developmental psychopathology with an emphasis on attachment theory based models of assessment, diagnosis, and intervention. The nature of development in "high risk" groups (eg, low birth-weight infants) and in children with developmental disabilities and ADD is also surveyed. The specific aims are to acquire an understanding of general theories of developmental psychopathology, including developmental disabilities; to acquire an understanding of diagnosis and treatment issues relevant to developmental psychopathology, including developmental disabilities; and to acquire experience in the use of at least one assessment procedure for identifying parent-child relationship problems in at-risk families.
