PSY927: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy II

This unit builds on the cognitive behavioural theories and therapies taught in PSY965 Cognitive Behaviour Therapy I and includes such therapies as respiratory retraining and interoceptive exposure, graduated exposure, structured problem solving, motivational interviewing and relapse prevention, cognitive reattribution methods, rational emotive therapy, schema therapy, and brief solution focused therapy. The aims of the unit are to examine the theoretical basis, efficacy and procedures of a selection of the most significant behavioural therapies, and to develop skills in several cognitive behavioural procedures including schema therapy, cognitive restructuring, behavioural case formulation, motivational interviewing, problem solving, brief solution focussed therapy, goal setting and coaching therapy, bibliotherapy and journaling.
