PSY963: Coaching and Positive Psychology

By the end of this unit participants will have knowledge of the key theories and research which underpin positive psychology and coaching psychology. They will be able to differentiate coaching from counselling, therapy, mentoring, consulting and training; identify the limits of coaching, and know when to refer and understand the skills and processes required for effective coaching. They will understand solution focused and strengths approaches and their implications for coaching; understand cognitive behavioural coaching; have employed and practiced the basic models of change and coaching; and understand the integrated developmental model of change and its implications for coaching. There will be practical supervised experience conducted coaching sessions with feedback on the experiential learning.
