SPH815: Professional Practice III

In this unit, the skills developed in SPH813 and 814 (Professional Practice I and II) will be discussed in relation to working with specialist populations, including: intellectual disability, autism, hearing impairment, developmental reading disorder, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, ADD/ADDHD and clients from multicultural backgrounds. In addition, issues related to applying assessment and intervention principles in specialist settings (eg early intervention facilities, special and regular schools, rehabilitation units, ICUs) will be covered. Students will be introduced to specialist technologies, such as AAC and technical aids for the disabled.
