STAT817: Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics addresses problems related to the storage, retrieval and analysis of information about biological structure. This unit will provide a broad-ranging study of bioinformatics, covering the use of quantitative methods in population genetics, genome science, proteomics and phylogenetics. It will also include study of data sources, data retrieval, BLAST and the PERL language. A background in biology is desirable.
