TRAN861: Using Technology in Teaching T & I

This unit introduces students to state of the art technology in teaching both translation and interpreting. In the study of translation this includes a range of machine-assisted translation tools, search tools and other support tools for translators. In addition, students will be exposed to the tools available in a computer laboratory to support independent learning and team work in translation. In interpreting, students will learn how to use a state-of-the-art language laboratory for group work in teaching and learning in interpreting and for independent learning. In addition, computer search tools will be presented to assist interpreters with their research and glossary development. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the application of the relevant technologies to practice and in particular to their own teaching.
