2009 Course Handbook
ARTS210: Arts Practicum I
ARTS210 students are exposed to a range of public and private arts organisations. Each week students visit a different Sydney based organisation where they receive a guest lecture by the director, manager or executive officer who runs the institution or business. Tutorials for the course are online and therefore students also develop skills that relate to the use of information technology. The course is firmly linked to the arts industry; students access the most up to date information available and have the opportunity to meet/network with some of Australia's most successful arts managers and entrepreneurs. This unit also feeds into the 3rd year unit ARTS310/311 Arts Practicum II which involves students completing a work placement at an organisation or business in Sydney, New York, London, Paris, Montreal, Dublin, Los Angeles, Amsterdam or anywhere else they desire to go.
