CUL309: Internship in Cultural Research

This unit provides students with experience in undertaking cultural research in a practical workplace environment. On-campus workshops during the semester provide students with background information and an opportunity to share experiences about the workplace and its demands. The research placement enables suitably qualified students to engage first-hand with cultural research and/or production, to reflect critically on their own experience and to gather new knowledge. The placement enables students to integrate critical and cultural research with the everyday experience of the workplace. Students will exercise problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills and creative thinking, while learning to interact and contribute within a professional context. The internship will usually be undertaken one or more days a week over a semester, but may, in some cases, be undertaken as a block.
