DEM127: Demographic Fundamentals
This unit introduces students to the analysis of populations, and is suitable for students from a wide range of backgrounds. The patterns of fertility, mortality and migration in Australia and other countries are described and their implications for population size and composition outlined. The main sources of demographic data and some of the main techniques for analysing population change are introduced. The uses of demographic information in the public sector and the private sector are discussed.
