ECH332: PDHPE: Wellness and Wellbeing

This unit develops a holistic approach to health education. It explores current health issues and the impact of social issues (including disadvantaged populations) on the health and well-being of diverse communities. Students explore strategies for developing positive healthy attitudes in young children. Underpinning this exploration are the theories of health promotion, human development and growth, and interpersonal relationships. This unit addresses the early years curriculum and the K-6 syllabus with a view to developing innovative and integrated approaches to teaching health. It involves participation in active movement, dance and game experiences. Emphasis is placed on engaging young children with this information and developing young children's critical analysis and decision making skills to support life-long wellness and wellbeing.
