2009 Course Handbook

ECHP424: Early Childhood Reflective Practice 6

This independent study is designed to provide student teachers with the opportunity to develop personal strengths in professional problem solving. Students are placed in their choice of school, childcare or preschool and complete two components of this unit. The first involves a series of modules used as a stimulus for classroom discussion. These modules also prepare students for the second component of this course -- an individual research assignment. There are three choices available for the research component and students may opt to (1) work with a professional colleague on a dilemma faced by that person, (2) complete a process of practitioner inquiry investigating an aspect of their own work with children, (3) complete a block of student teaching in a placement of their choice.
