ECON311: Macroeconomic Policy

The unit is concerned with the formulation and implementation of macroeconomic policy. Topics covered include the design of monetary policy given the trade-off between inflation and unemployment; inflation targeting and the monetary transmission mechanism, with particular reference to the housing market; the impacts of government debt; taxation policy; monetary and fiscal policy under flexible and fixed exchange rates; and macroeconomic policy in a real business cycle framework.
