FRN123: Introductory French II

This unit is designed for students who have successfully completed FRN122. Students with prior knowledge of French who wish to resume their study of the language in the second half-year should consult the convenor who will assess if their level of competence is adequate for immediate entry into FRN123. The work in this unit is of a very intensive nature as the unit aims to prepare students for FRN226 (Intermediary French I), which is designed for HSC continuers and extension. FRN123 aims to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in French. It seeks to develop basic communicative competence in everyday practical situations. Together with regular study of grammar, it provides students with a framework they can build upon to communicate effectively in French and initiates students to contemporary French culture. The on-campus session for external students is compulsory for students from the Sydney metropolitan area.
