HIST116: China in World History

A study of relations between China and the world from prehistoric times (Xinjiang mummies) to the Han (and the Roman empire), the cosmopolitan empire of the Tang and China's influence on Japan, Korea and Vietnam; Genghis Khan and the Mongols, Marco Polo and other travellers, Matteo Ricci and other missionaries, the multicultural Qing empire, republicanism, communism, and consumerism and the emergence of China as a major world power.
