JPN230: Survey of Japanese Literature

This course is designed to introduce students to the enjoyment of reading Japanese literary works as well as enhancing their understanding of some aspects of Japanese literature from a socio-cultural perspective. Children's literature, young adult literature and detective stories in the modern period will be focussed on in this course. Assessment is based on class participation and assignments including online quizzes, presentation, English essay and a 2 hour examination.
