JPN381: Advanced Japanese Language (1)

This unit is designed to advance skills in all areas of Japanese language. Texts will be drawn from various genres and the unit will cover socio-linguistic aspects of Japanese communication including register, pragmatics and rhetorical conventions. Emphasis will be placed on the practical and communicative use of Japanese, both written and oral. Development of translation skills is also included in this unit. Class activities include various exercises which would prepare students to sit for Level 1/2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) according to their level of achievement.
