LAW315: Constitutional Law and Administration II

This unit follows on from LAW314. A first part of LAW315 assesses the extent to which the Commonwealth and State constitutions provide, expressly or by implication, for basic rights and freedoms -- and how it may be desirable to supplement these constitutions with bills of rights. A second and larger part discusses administrative law. That is, how far public and private organizations are required by law -- through which individuals have recourse to courts, tribunals and ombudsman offices -- to exercise their legally conferred powers and to do so honestly, fairly and in accordance with freedom of information.
