LAW423: Intellectual Property Law
Intellectual Property Law will provide you with an understanding of the nature of intangible property through exploring the various forms of intellectual property protected under existing regimes and under general law. The course will identify and evaluate existing regimes of copyright, patents, plant breeders' rights, designs and trade mark as well as the law of passing off and relevant aspects of unfair trading laws. The course will explain law and policy regulating the intellectual property regimes; explain and discuss the subject matter protected, conditions of protection and nature of infringement for each head of protection; critically analyse existing and proposed intellectual property laws. You will be able to identify and explain the interrelationship and overlaps between different intellectual property regimes. You will learn how to apply intellectual property principles and policy in practical scenarios.
