LAW526: Language, Violence and Justice: The Legal Regulation of Hatred

The unit looks at how hatred might be theorised and studies aspects of hate speech, hate crimes and genocide in that context. Students are asked to think about how a study of law might inform our grasp of what hatred is and, conversely, how an interdisciplinary study of hatred might enrich our appreciation of the possibilities and limits of legal regulation.
