LAW537: War Law
What is war? How does it differ from other violence, such as that involved in terrorism and counter-terrorism? Are wars ever justifiable? How should they be waged? How and why do we distinguish between civilians and combatants? What about human shields, refugees, POWs? We examine these and other questions from the perspective of morality and international law, concentrating on recent and current conflicts.
