MUS204: Sound Explorations

This unit will address various compositional techniques and sound explorations that arose in the 20th Century. Beginning with Debussy and moving through to the latest avant garde sound works, this unit will examine key figures and movements that have shaped the evolution of contemporary music. It will also address contemporary approaches to musical hybridity.

Special consideration will be paid to the development and globalisation of jazz as a modern art music.
