MUS230: African Drumming

(V2 Session dates: 9,10,16, 17 January 2010)

This subject, taught as an intensive summer-school unit, introduces students to basic principles of West African drumming styles. Students will learn individual technique and polyrhythmic playing in group contexts. Ethnomusicological study will further enhance the practical elements of the course.
