MUS311: Digital Music Practice; Mixing and DJ-ing

This unit builds practical skills to mix music for a live audience. Lectures and workshops develop the techniques necessary for DJ-ing and laptop performance across a variety of musical styles such as hip hop, dance, ambient and experimental electronica. Students have a choice of specialising in vinyl and/or CD DJ-ing and are introduced to Ableton Live software as a tool for laptop performance. Guest artists host lecture/workshops in their areas of expertise. This unit caters to a variety of skill levels with both beginning and advanced students welcome.
