2009 Course Handbook

RSN325: Russian Cinema

This course will present best-known Russian films with English subtitles and look at them from cultural, historical and ideological points of view. Films will range from the 1920s to the present. Students will express their understanding and views on the films shown through short essays written in English (or in Russian if they prefer). This course will be interesting not only for students who want to know about Russian films but also for those who study the Russian language because they will be exposed to different vocabulary and pronunciations, as well as Russian songs and poetry. RSN325 is offered in internal and external modes.
