MCom - Master of Commerce

Accounting and Finance.

The accounting and finance program of the Master of Commerce allows candidates to choose from a range of units in financial and management accounting, finance, auditing, taxation and information systems. It should be noted that completion of this degree does not qualify graduates for progression to membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or CPA Australia. Note: Eight credit points advanced standing can be given for a completed CPA or CA program.

Actuarial Studies

This postgraduate degree will be offered to graduates with an undergraduate degree or its equivalent in actuarial studies (ie covering the syllabus of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia Part I requirements). The degree will allow students to complete Part II of their professional qualifications and extend their skills in related areas such as statistics, finance, economics, and other business related studies. Candidates who have already completed Part 2 of the professional exams of the IAAust may be eligible for advanced standing.

Business.

The program in business is a modern business degree that enables graduates to study units across a range of disciplinary areas offered by the Division of Economic and Financial Studies. The degree provides an opportunity to acquire an interdisciplinary understanding of business with a concentration in at least one major area of business activity.

Value Chain Management.

The Master of Commerce specialising in Value Chain Management program aims at developing comprehensive insights and management skills in the design and management of customer-driven demand chains/networks, resource driven supply chains/networks and the overarching financial value chain management framework. In addition, the degree program builds cutting-edge skills in service supply chain management and offers familiarity with strategic distribution and transportation issues as well as end-user information technology in supply and demand networks. The MCom in Value Chain Management degree program is fully taught at the Normandy Business School (NBS), which is a prestigious business school located in the port city of Le Havre, Normandy, France.

Note: Commencing study period: First semester France (September to November)

Information Technology.

The program in information systems and technology is for candidates who seek a business perspective in their study of information systems and technology rather than a computer science perspective. The degree builds upon the information systems and technology major presently in the Master of Commerce in Business.

Marketing.

The program in marketing offers an intellectually rigorous approach to marketing, combined with practical relevance. This mirrors the character of marketing positions which demand a mix of skills. The program is particularly suitable for applicants without a major in marketing. Students without a significant marketing background will be required to take MKTG813 Managerial Marketing early in their program.
